About Terri

Terri Ritter, Abstract Artist and Art Teacher

I love bright & vibrant colors. I also believe that art should be fun to create. And the mediums I paint in allow me to use rich and bright colors and to get messy and have fun. As an accomplished artist I love learning new methods and techniques. That is how I found myself as an Abstract fluid artist. I paint in two primary mediums. Alcohol Inks and Acrylic Fluid art. Fluid art is an artform where the acrylic paint is made more fluid by adding various mediums to the paint and manipulating the paint to what I want it to do. With Alcohol Inks I use alcohol to manipulate the ink to do what I want. In both mediums I can use the traditional brushes, but I can also use any number of other items. Like airbrushes, hair dryers, strainers, or anything I can get my hands on that will let me work with the paint or ink to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art. With alcohol inks I paint primarily on glass or yupo paper. With the acrylic fluid art, I paint on canvas. But you will find traditional acrylic paintings in my gallery also.

I also love to teach painting to young and old alike. I love to help people learn new ways to have fun and express themselves in art.

Please visit my gallery and see that no two pieces of my art are alike. If you are interested in learning more about these two great painting mediums email at rittersarts@gmail.com. I also do commission work. Be sure to also visit my husband’s gallery of his beautiful works of art.

About Skip

Skip Ritter, Woodturner and Teacher

When it comes to works of art my wife, Terri, will think of paint and paintings, I think of the warm beautiful colors of wood. The chance to create a work of art from a piece of nature is one of the aspects of woodturning that I truly enjoy. To also enhance my artistry and skill further I’ve been able to take woodturning classes at John C. Campbell Folk School and the Appalachian Craft Center. I have begun to expand my artwork by embellishing some of my pieces with the additions of woodcarving, gemstones, and the use of “poured colored resin” into my art projects. I like to use various types of wood and will also add other types of wood to further finish and enhance my work.

I enjoy turning wood and watching the wood become something unique and sometimes something I could not ever have planned for. While I enjoy using my imagination to bring forth a work of art that is unique, I also enjoy the challenge of taking commissions pieces that are requested by clients. If you like to own things that are created by hand and are one of a kind, please take time browse my gallery of woodturning.

I also love to teach and pass on all that I have learned. If you have questions or are wanting to learn contact me at rittersarts@gmail.com. Be sure to also visit my wife’s gallery of her beautiful works of art.
